The rose bud is harvested before blooming every spring, and once dried, it is then marketed. The rose bud is a product of the damask rose shrub (Rosa damascena) from the rose family. The rose is a small plant typically ranging in height from 60 to 150 centimeters, sometimes more, with beautiful and fragrant pink flowers. It is better to harvest the rose bud when it is mature but unopened and free of sepals, and then dry it in a shaded and cool place or under very mild heat. After drying, store the rose buds in a sealed glass container in a dry and dark environment.
